Multi White Water activities

Samoëns Base in the Haute-Savoie (74)

Multi white water activities - Samoëns Base

DISCOVER WHITE WATER AT YOUR OWN PACE!!

Half day  Rafting on the Giffre + half day Canoraft/Airboat on the Giffre + one day Stand Up Paddle and Hydrospeed on the Arve + half day Canyoning in Balme or Nyon.

A great way to discover the many facets of white water while devoting free time to the other opportunities our valley offers; the waterfalls of ‘’Cirque du Fer à Cheval’’, wild life, Alpine flora, hiking, biking….. and of course gastronomy.

We’ll construct an itinerary so you can enjoy a holiday to suit you. Get active and discover the rivers that shape the landscape.

Morning or afternoon, it’s your choice but remember to book!

Day 1

Half day Rafting on the GIFFRE

Meet at the Samoens base for distribution of equipment. Transfer to the starting point on the Giffre. This is the best way to experience this river, to see its sporty side as well as the views and the wealth of nature that surround it.  1h – 1h30 rafting descent during which we will endeavour to show you all this river has to offer. You will cross the unforgettable Gorges des Tines, take recovery breaks, surf the waves in your raft, jump in and swim and enjoy all other possibilities. Remember to memorise the rapids, it will help you for the descent the next day!

Day 2

Half day Canoraft/Airboat on the GIFFRE

With your experience from the day before, we move to a more technical experience. You control your own boat after your instructor has explained all the necessary techniques. Each stop will be an opportunity for more tips. If at the end of the session you have not yet mastered all of the techniques, you will have learnt a lot! It is a real full-on activity, as well as learning how to manage your boat, you will learn how to re-board (when you have fallen into the water!), recover your equipment and help each other.

Day 3

Half day Canyoning in BALME (Carroz) or NYON (Morzine)

Another marvel and a different way to experience the power of these small rivers and to be aware of their impact on the terrain. The evidence of this power on the geology over the last million years is all around you. You’ll jump into basins, find natural water slides and abseil.

Canyon de Balme and Nyon require a good half day. The highest waterfalls are over 20m high and your guide will instruct you and reassure you as you jump, slide and abseil.

The choice between the two canyons will be based on the conditions of the season.

Day 4

1 day Stand Up Paddle and Hydrospeed on the ARVE

We meet at 09.00 at the Passy base which is on the river Arve. As it is less windy in the morning, we will start with SUP on lake Illettes followed by a 7km descent on the river Arve up to Magland.  In the afternoon the level of the river increases with the water from the melting Mont Blanc glaciers.  We take this opportunity to swap our paddles for flippers, floats and extra-thick wetsuits to go Hydrospeeding.  You will become part of the river as you float downstream in the current.  The river Arve has a wide bed and a large volume of water with big waves and stoppers.  It is not only for technical participants, as with instruction from your guide throughout, everybody will have a great time!

Difficulty GIFFRE: Class II, III. The Gorges des Tines is difficult to classify

Difficulty ARVE: Class II (3)

Price: €219/person.
